A lucky herd of elephants, each with a different story, but all sharing one home. Each one was rescued from a difficult life — and has finally come here to live in peace.

A story

The Elephants of Doi Lom

Tony rescued elephants that had been heavily used in different places — some were used for logging, while others spent their days carrying tourists with large chairs strapped to their backs.

They were rescued to Doi Lom Rescue, a warm new home surrounded by nature, with a spacious elephant shelter to protect them from the rain. Tony and the Doi Lom team have put their hearts, effort, and resources into giving these elephants a peaceful retirement, where they no longer have to be exploited.

"Doi Lom Elephant Sanctuary is an amazing place. The elephants there came from the tribes up north and are now being cared for here. We prepared their medicine, fed them, walked with them, and bathed them. The caretakers are super friendly and gentle with the elephants and nothing is forced. The experience genuinely feels like you're assisting the caretakers in what they do on the daily for the elephants! It's small scaled which makes the experience intimate and personal, but also ensures all three elephants are taken care of properly. I absolutely loved this place and would recommend it to anyone! 🐘💞"
